To find sustainable solutions, we use an innovation-method that is a combination of Biomimicry and design thinking.
What is Biomimicry?
Biomimicry, a term combining the Greek words bios – life-, and mimesis – to imitate-, is a holistic innovation approach to find sustainable solutions.
Inspired by nature‘s longtime tested sustainable solutions, it emulates patterns, processes, and strategies found in nature to create life-friendly products and systems. The process used is called Biomimicry thinking.
How does a Biomimicry Design process work?
In a Biomimicry design process, a method called Biomimicry thinking is used. Biomimicry thinking implies the steps of scoping – defining the challenge, discovering – look at nature for solutions, creating – emulating principles found in nature, and evaluating possible solutions with Life‘s Principles.
Life’s Principles
Life’s Principles are a set of design guidelines based on successful strategies found in all Life that has evolved over 3.8 billion years. They represent the overarching patterns found in all living species, and by integrating them, it is possible to develop innovative, sustainable products and strategies in the creating phase and evaluate the ideas against these sustainable benchmarks.
